Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Medical Director of the Sports Surgery Clinic
Ray Moran completed his medical training in Trinity College Dublin and orthopaedic fellowships in the UK and USA. He has developed a large practice in the surgical management of knee problems. His area of particular interest being sports injuries of the knee, including acute ligament and cartilage damage. He treats a large number of amateur and elite athletes from across the country with complex knee injuries. Ray maintains a strong caseload of patients of all ages who have difficulty maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle due to osteoarthritis of the knee.
In 2017 he expanded his practice taking on a second consultant orthopaedic surgeon and knee specialist physiotherapist.
Mr Daniel Withers

Daniel Withers completed his orthopaedic surgical training in Mersey Deanery (UK) in 2014. He has completed both a Sports Knee Fellowship at Sports Surgery Clinic and a Research Fellowship in the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Department, Trinity College Dublin. He also held the role of sports doctor to the Trinity College sports teams.
As part of his fellowships he was been involved in pre-clinical trials in relation to cartilage and meniscus regeneration, as well as research into mechanisms of ACL injuries in rugby. During his fellowship at Sports Surgery Clinic he gained considerable experience in treating large numbers of patients with all aspects of knee problems (including osteoarthritis, ligament injuries, meniscal injuries, patellofemoral disorders).
At the end of 2017 Daniel was appointed the first Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to work alongside Ray Moran in the Ray Moran knee Clinic at SSC.
Jenny Ward (Physiotherapist)
M.Sc., B.Sc., M.I.S.C.P
Jenny achieved an MSc in Physiotherapy from King’s College London in 2012. She also obtained an Honours BSc in Athletic Training from Dublin
After graduating in 2012 she was employed by the Sports Medicine Department at Sports Surgery Clinic. She completed a number of rotations in orthopaedics, general musculoskeletal and sports injuries. In 2016 she started to work alongside Ray Moran treating sportspeople with complex ligament and meniscal injures. She also sees a large caseload of adults who have knee pain and impaired function due to arthritis and acute cartilage injuries.
During her training and career Jenny has worked with sports teams in the USA and Ireland including; lacrosse, soccer and GAA games.
